Letter: Star Wars Rare Pairs 2018!
Hello! Thanks for offering to write for one of my pairings. Most of the general likes/DNWs in this letter are rehashed from previous fests, pardon my recycling, but the basic gist is: I'll be thrilled to read anything you're excited to write, so if you have an idea that's dying to get out, please, have at it! I've thrown out a few prompts/sketchy ideas for each of my requested relationships here - if any or all of it sticks, go with it, but, of course, don't feel you have to run with my suggestions. (And if any of my headcanon conflicts with yours, do your thing! I'm never married to it, and I love reading other interpretations.) If you're a glutton for punishment, I've also written about some of these characters and pairings before in my three past Star Wars letters, and my tastes don't change that much. (Canon does, though, so some of the prompts are certainly outdated.)
oh god i have too many ships // likes & dnws // canon crossover // canon eu // sequels
Things I like!
DNWs:
CANON CROSSOVER
Brendol Hux/Orson Krennic: Two of the Empire's architects of its most important weapons - whether or not they're both really the brains behind their respective programs. Do they spar over who gets funding for their pet project? Scheme together to get rid of some pesky mutual obstacle? Have late-night self-absorbed brainstorming sessions about how they're going to rule the Galaxy? I love their ambition, their big ides (or their adjacency to big ides), and the potential they offer to explore a day in the life of an Imperial ladder-climber.
Sinjir Rath Velus/Orson Krennic: Sinjir assessing Krennic's loyalty as part of a scheme by [insert one of the no doubt countless officials who don't like Krennic very much here] to discredit him. Sinjir assessing Krennic's loyalty before he's allowed to take on the Death Star project. Sinjir being directed to question one of Krennic's enemies or less-than-helpful underlings. (Or Galen Erso, or Bodhi Rook!) Basically, I'd love Sinjir doing his loyalty officer thing, with his delightful brand of cynicism, which strikes me as rather different than Krennic's brand of cynicism, and maybe they don't blend very well.
Sinjir Rath Velus/Galen Erso: I'd be interested to see these two interact during Galen's Imperial employment on Coruscant, when he's still willingly working with the Special Weapons Group - or during his time on Eriadu, when his loyalty is known to be seriously questionable. Maybe Galen tries to convince Sinjir to help him thwart Krennic, maybe he just does his best to tell Sinjir what he wants to hear so he'll go away, maybe Sinjir gets suspicious of what Bodhi Rook's up to and Galen intervenes. Galen's pacifism and his moral objection to the work he does could pair really interestingly with Sinjir's decidedly less certain outlook on right and wrong.
Cassian Andor/Shara Bey/Kes Dameron: Cassian knowing Shara and Kes before they join up with the Rebellion would be fabulous - maybe they know the cause he fights for, if not the specifics of his work, and give him a place to stay, a ride here and there, etc., from time to time. Maybe he's the reason they ultimately enlist? Shara and Kes seem pretty earnestly dedicated to the fight once they do join up, in contrast with Cassian's more resigned, tired resolve, and I'd love to see them have a moment or two of comfort or happiness or success. Cassian surviving and coming to live with them on Yavin 4 (sharing a home, or as their cranky jungle hermit neighbor, with or without other R1 people) on Yavin 4 is also A+. Would appreciate no dub-con or non-con.
Lando Calrissian/Bodhi Rook: During Bodhi's time flying with the Empire, maybe he runs afoul of one of Lando's smuggling operations - or maybe just runs afoul of Lando himself while indulging his gambling habit at a casino while on leave. Bodhi needs some fun in his life, and Lando is the epicenter of fun. ... Also of trouble, but hey, no risk, no reward. Some excuse to get Bodhi done up in Lando's wardrobe would not come amiss. Lando's confidence, daring, skill, and that tricky compassionate streak he has all make a great contrast to jittery, wary, flunked-out-of-flight school Bodhi, and I just. I want them to have fun together. (But, as always, heartbreak is also fabulous. It's Rogue One. Comes with the deliciously heartbreak-y territory.)
Lando Calrissian/Poe Dameron: Poe Dameron, hotshot pilot, lover of good war stories and perchance purchaser of memoirs, probably fucking awful at cards - there are a lot of reasons for Lando to like having him around. They're both dead charming, but Poe does seem to kind of trip into it by accident more than Lando does; I think they'd have a fun dynamic, whether it's an encounter in the pre-Resistance days, something post-TLJ in which Poe needs to reach out to him for assistance, or some wild time travel scenario that allows him to get a tour of that cape room. Some kind of undercover job where Poe has to try to act like someone who credibly enjoys casinos and/or Lando-style high luxury environments; something involving Lando's languishing memoirs; anything!
Lando Calrissian/Poe Dameron/Ben Solo | Kylo Ren: Poe and Lando teaming up post-TLJ to find the Supreme Leader, with whom they both have a prior connection, could be a lot of fun; or maybe a Smuggler Ben!AU (or gambler Ben, or ... dealer's choice), where he teams up with Lando and Poe comes to them at some point to try to get them to help the Resistance. For this one, I'd prefer not a lot of emphasis on Lando having known Ben as a kid, although obviously discussing it to some degree is totally cool! Kylo/Ben and Lando strike me as so different; they're on opposite ends of the smooth spectrum, with Poe falling somewhere in between, and their values and the differences between them are all incredibly interesting to me.
Poe Dameron/Bodhi Rook: Poe, who always knows exactly the right thing to do, of course, and Bodhi, who is ... basically the opposite of that, would make an amazing pair. They're both willing to do what needs to be done for the causes/people they love, but one of them is a whole hell of a lot less excited about it, and I love it. Whether this is a Bodhi lives!AU, some manner of time travel, or, idk, ghost Bodhi?, I'd love to see them connecting over lost friends, or Poe's lifelong admiration of the Rogue One crew (if in fact he knows their names), or the fact that Bodhi and his team basically saved Yavin 4 from being turned into an asteroid belt. Something with post-TLJ Poe, with his moral certainty diminished and his relationship to heroism changed, could be really interesting.
Ransolm Casterfo/Poe Dameron: What draws me to this pairing is the potential for head-butting due to their very different upbringings, mannerisms, and approaches to the world; the potential for additional head-butting because I suspect Poe would not be all about Imperial memorabilia, thanks, and some knee-jerk judgements might be made as a result; and their connections with Leia. I'd love it if they clashed at the beginning but developed a fuller understanding of and appreciation for one another as we go along. Something during the time when they're both based on Hosnian Prime - maybe Poe gets assigned as Casterfo's pilot/security for some reason. Or Leia sends Poe to rescue him from his fate on Riosa, so he can help the Resistance, and Casterfo's not all about that.
Ransolm Casterfo/Poe Dameron/Leia Organa: Maybe Leia and Poe go to rescue Casterfo after he's sent back to Riosa - right after Bloodline, or after TLJ, when they need every last friend they can get? All of them taking some solace in each other would be fab. Or, I'd love to see Poe's reactions to Leia's parentage reveal - if they're all involved with one another during the events of that book, what goes down? Leia and Ransolm don't exactly get off on the right foot, but I imagine Poe's initial reaction to him was decidedly less diplomatic; or maybe it's Ransolm who can't stand this kid who doesn't even remember Imperial rule, but thinks he knows all about it.
Ransolm Casterfo/Poe Dameron/Ben Solo | Kylo Ren: I think this would make a fantastic Senator Ben!AU, in which Ransolm and Ben are either the best of pals in their terrible little Imperial history nerd clique, or the worst of enemies, with Poe doing his best to try to wrangle both of them. For something more canon, perhaps after TLJ Ransolm helps Poe hunt down Kylo Ren, something he's able to do due to their shared in-depth knowledge of Vader-ish things? Maybe Kylo has Ransolm brought to him to ask him something about his history with Vader, and Poe goes to rescue him, and winds up bringing both of them back.
Poe Dameron/Ben Solo | Kylo Ren/Terex: The Poe comic may be over, but my love for Terex is undying. If you're a fan of the "Poe and Ben knew one another during their youth" headcanon, I can see Terex making good use of that (and also being a shit about it). Dear Poe, your childhood friend Ben Solo has sent me bearing a secret message to you regarding his desire to defect to the Resistance, and you know, maybe it's true, maybe it's not. Maybe Terex has agreed to help the Resistance, and he and Poe have an established or on again/off again thing going on, and he tries to bring in Kylo Ren - not for the Resistance so much as for Poe. Really, what appeals to me about these three is the snark, the lack of chill, and the aggressively good / aggressively neutral / aggressively dark trichotomy that I am 100% sure would lead to ridiculousness.
Armitage Hux/Terex: Terex realizing the First Order will never be the Empire he lost is sort of an important moment for him in terms of setting his course for his post-First Order life - and honestly, Hux seems like just the guy to bring him to that realization. Something pre-TFA, with Terex first offering his services to the Order; or something during his affiliation with them; or something during the period in which Terex has his implant, I'm sure Hux would love to have a feasible method of mind control for all his underlings - or maybe, post-TLJ, Hux reaches out to him to help him get rid of his Kylo-shaped problem. What I love about this match-up is that Hux so stridently believes in the Order, and Terex so badly wanted to believe it was something it wasn't, and - maybe they both wind up disappointed. Also, snark.
Cardinal/Poe Dameron: If Cardinal's ambiguous ending sees him defecting to the Resistance, what's Poe's reaction to this guy? Bitter mistrust? Wary gratitude? Does he even know who he is? (I'm a little fuzzy on the Phasma timeline, but I believe it ends pre-TFA, so maybe Cardinal's kicking around the Resistance before Poe is, and it takes Finn showing up to be all uh, I know that dude), ANYWAY. I love hero worship, and Poe and Cardinal both have interesting relationships to it. Also, Cardinal has spent his career instilling loyalty into the First Order's young troops, and Poe's youth seems to have been pretty heavy on the heroic stories of the leaders of the Rebellion - and these two things aren't totally the same, of course, but there's some fascinating parallels. Two incredibly loyal, devoted guys who have every reason to dislike each other finding some kind of understanding (or utterly failing) would be amazing.
CANON EU
Cardinal/Armitage Hux: If you can't be with the Hux you love ... This ship has so much potential for complicated twistedness, I love it. Cardinal loves Brendol; Cardinal knows Armitage orchestrated Brendol's death; Cardinal still serves Armitage because he's A Good Soldier, and this checks a lot of my boxes. Loyalty, extremely flawed idealism (love for an individual man rather than the cause he'd really rather you were devoted to, for instance), pining, uniforms, you name it. I'd love something anywhere along their timeline - while Brendol's still alive and Cardinal's taking what he can get, after Brendol's death before he knows who killed him, after he finds out - as fucked up as you want it to be, I'm there.
Rae Sloane/Armitage Hux: I'd love to see these two during the period right before the Order breaks out onto the Galactic stage - I think they'd probably disagree about quite a lot, but they're both so devoted to this thing they're doing, and it's kind of all they have, which could form the basis for an interesting adversarial but kind of symbiotic relationship. Plotting together or plotting against each other, I'd just really enjoy seeing what they each want for the Order, what they think the other means for the Order, and what all of that means for their personal relationship. Is there some hero worship going on, or is Hux a little too ambitious for that? What happens when Snoke shows up? When he dies? Is Rae still around? Does she perhaps want to help kick Kylo off the throne? I'd prefer not a whole lot of emphasis on their time together when Armitage was a child, but discussing it to some extent is totally cool, of course!
Carise Sindian/Rae Sloane: Sloane being behind/supporting Carise's scheme to reveal Leia's parentage would make me very happy, as would some formal courtship type behavior from both of them - Carise's background and rank lend themselves well to that, I think, as does Rae's position. (Whether Rae's just in this to manipulate Carise to her political ends, or whether she herself gets something personal out of it, is an open question I leave completely to your discretion, I would love either version.) I love the potential for contrast between Carise's kind of high-strung propriety and snobbery and Rae's more reserved mannerisms but not-necessarily-less-high-strung dedication to her cause. What does Rae think about the Elder Houses? Do they have a purpose? Is it all a bunch of crap?
Amilyn Holdo/Carise Sindian: I would love to see these two being politely, smilingly, cuttingly, absolutely savage to each other - or, for something completely different, maybe they had an unlikely but happy relationship (with some angst from the fact that Holdo's not an appropriate match, in terms of class? or because Holdo was never going to be down with the Elder House life?) that then hit some rocks, either long before Carise's plotting against Leia, or at that point. Maybe Carise survives the destruction of the Hosnian system, regrets her actions, and approaches Holdo to offer her services? (Feel free to let Holdo live!) Something involving the political/social scene of Hosnian Prime would be right up my alley.
Conder Kyl/Sinjir Rath Velus: This prompt really just amounts to let Sinjir be happy, but if you're more inclined toward something more bittersweet, or Sinjir sabotages himself again and will always be miserable, that's all good, too. Sinjir and Conder's honeymoon turns into a disaster/war zone to rival The Courtship of Princess Leia? The couple that thwarts the Imperial remnant together stays together? Sinjir and Conder as one of the New Republic's most unlikely power couples? Angsty hurt/comfort focused on Sinjir's misgivings about his past actions? Have they stuck around long enough to watch the First Order come around? I'd love anything. The morally grey, cynical, sarcastic, openly gay ex-Imperial drunk who spent his career assessing other people's loyalty to a weird totalitarian ideology is a character that somehow manages to check just about every box I have, so you can't really go wrong with Sinjir. I love him and his space hipster hacker husband. So much. Would appreciate no dub-con or non-con.
Lando Calrissian/Sinjir Rath Velus: Loyalty officer SInjir goes on a bender in a far-too-fancy casino and makes an unlikely friend / falls into an all-too-likely one night stand? They run afoul of each other somehow while Sinjir's on the job, and they recognize in one another their sassy asshole equal? Working together after the formation of the New Republic? I love that they both purport to a moral ambiguity that doesn't really bear itself out - certainly Sinjir's done a lot of awful things, and certainly Lando's been out for himself, but when we meet them, they come to people's aid when they're needed, and they show more than flashes of principle and empathy. Their humor, dryness, wit, and skepticism is the big draw for me, but I'd love to see them find they have more in common in the wake of the defeat of the Empire and everything that happens after.
Poe Dameron/Suralinda Javos: Their time in the navy together! Hard-boiled noir style adventures based on her journalism career! Clashing over her publication of her hot takes on various issues! Propaganda creation for the Resistance post-TLJ! I love the fact that she's a journalist, which (I believe?) isn't a career we see often represented in this universe, and I love propaganda and rhetoric in general, and all the questions of objectivity you run into when writing the news, and all the ways that's all not at all Poe's wheelhouse. At the end of the day, they're fighting for the same thing, but I imagine they disagree about a lot, and that makes me very happy.
Poe Dameron/Terex: This pairing's been love at first sight for me, and their adventures are over, for now, but in my heart they keep tormenting each other forever. I loved every piece of Terex's arc and all his history and his dynamic with Poe, and I'd love anything that shoves Terex into canon events, or in the blank moments between canon events, or in the difficult future currently stretching ahead of the Resistance. For someone who doesn't care what happens to the galaxy, Terex sure cares a lot about Poe Dameron not getting one up on him, and it gives me life. Terex offering the Resistance his services in their hour of need (for a considerable price), Terex selling the Resistance out to the First Order (... for a considerable price), Terex resuming his glory days as a gang leader and finally finding himself in a position where Poe has to grovel for something and inevitably fucking it up, working together as the worst undercover couple ever ... I'll be happy with anything with these two.
Poe Dameron/Muran: Muran's kind of a blank slate, but I love romances between comrades and soldiers who share a dedication to a cause - or who have very different ideas about what that cause should be about - so I'd really just love something exploring their career flying and fighting together as part of a team. Did they know one another before? Did they get along during training? Clash? Have some kind of crazy rivalry? Were they roommates with an odd couple dynamic? What was Muran's upbringing like? I'd really just love to fill out their relationship a little bit. Would appreciate no dub-con or non-con.
SEQUELS
Armitage Hux/Rey: Rey's blend of no-nonsense-ness and earnest wonder and Hux's wary striving prickliness that nevertheless doesn't seem to contain any cynicism are an interesting match. He's always been so mired in the history of the Galactic Civil War, and her life has so not, they just have such totally different points of reference. Plus, their ties to Jakku are interesting fodder for a connection, as is maybe the Order's propaganda re: the New Republic's neglect of certain systems and their people. I'd love an Empress Rey AU, something where she encounters the First Order before the Resistance, or something where Hux seeks her out to try to get rid of Kylo!
Armitage Hux/Phasma: Scheming First Order power couple / colleagues who fuck / y/y? They both have powerful drives toward self-preservation, although hers seems way less hindered by anything like idealism. Are they trying to manipulate one another? Do they frequently threaten mutually assured destruction by revealing each other's most explosive secrets? Did they have a completely inappropriate little party right after Brendol's funeral? Something with Phasma presumed dead post-TLJ and then returning would be great, or something with their no doubt fraught interactions right after she joined the Order, or some of their Brendol murder plotting sessions, or a ground mission where they wind up stranded together.
Armitage Hux/Phasma/Kylo Ren: There's a lot of power and ego and warring motivations here, which are a few of my favorite things. A Plotting Against Snoke Pact? Supreme Leader Kylo Ren and his two most dangerous underlings? Hux and Phasma competing for Kylo's favor and/or to see which one of them can make his life the most miserable? Something with an established relationship that's been established basically since they all found themselves in one place, but which has gone through some highs and lows, would be interesting - or a desperate post-Starkiller bender - or just something showing how their lives have changed over the course of their acquaintance and all the ensuing canon events.
Poe Dameron/Phasma: I can see Phasma doing absolutely anything she needs to in order to survive, so defecting to the Resistance is hardly that outlandish for her; whether Poe could ever accept it is perhaps another question, but I'd love to read about it! Or an AU in which Phasma's planet is approached by the Resistance (or New Republic) before the Order; or an AU in which First Order Poe is one of her pilots who discovers she's not as loyal to the Order itself as she'd like everyone to believe - does he turn her over? is his loyalty to her more powerful than to his cause? does she frame him and hang him out to dry?; or, something during Poe's captivity on the Finalizer.
Poe Dameron/Phasma/Kylo Ren: Phasma defects to the Resistance and somehow manages to bring Kylo along as a good will gesture? Poe, a captive of the First Order, sees an opportunity to exploit Phasma's self-interest, but has to contend with Kylo (either reluctance to leave without his childhood friend, if you're into that headcanon, or some other wrinkle)? First Order Poe is extremely devoted to his superiors, but perhaps suspicions about one or both of them? New Republic pilot Poe chases Smuggler Ben to Parnassos, where shenanigans ensue? I love Phasma's cool, ruthless plotting capabilities with Poe and Kylo/Ben's complete lack of chill and more idealist thinking, and anything that showcases any of that would be fabulous.
Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux: I love how Hux seems like he's pretty easily needled, and Poe is the kind of cool customer who can get under his skin in a heartbeat - and who also has the potential to get decidedly less cool very, very quickly. They both seem to me like they're ardent true believers, just in very, very different things, and that's a recipe for my favorite fireworks. Also I'm a sucker for the sequel trilogy characters who have to deal with the legacy of the civil war; Hux's father and his expectations and actions are very different than Poe's parents' expectations and actions and the effect they have on him, but ... you know, also kind of similar. First Order Poe is always win, as is "stranded together on a wilderness planet and trying not to strangle one another for ... some reason," or Poe as a captive of the First Order trying to seduce his way out of things, an Empire never fell!AU, Hux approaching the Resistance post-TLJ and dealing with extremely skeptical Poe - I'd love anything.
Poe Dameron/DJ: Working with the guy who sold out your friends to the First Order is one of those things I can't imagine pre-TLJ Poe ever considering even for a moment - but as things stand now, I think that's probably changed, and I'd love to see how he deals with the necessity of doing something he considers really, really distasteful or flat-out wrong. I'd also love to learn more about DJ, and see what he's up to now that the Resistance and the Order are kind of in shambles. Does the Resistance catch up with him and demand revenge? Underworld adventures with Poe, who doesn't seem like he'd be that great at navigating underworlds? Slicing and high-tech bank robberies? Maybe he and Poe have a history?
Poe Dameron/Luke Skywalker: I really enjoy relationships between non-Force-sensitive characters and incredibly powerful ones, both for the odd dance they must have to do around that power disparity and to see how it changes the non-powerful party's relationship to the Force. How does Poe think of the Force? Does Luke have any interest in talking about that kind of stuff with him or people like him? Poe seems like to kind of guy to throw his feelings into a relationship without much reservation, once he's in something, which could be an issue. Also, X-Wing antics, they probably want to get up to some X-Wing antics. An AU in which Luke comes to help the Resistance without having to be found; Poe accompanying Rey to Ahch-To to make sure this guy actually comes back with her (and probably managing to get himself stuck in one of the island's weird creepy Dark side traps); Force ghost Luke haunting the temple on Yavin 4?
Poe Dameron/Amilyn Holdo: I loved Poe's arc in TLJ, I loved his clash with Holdo and the change to him that came about because of it, and I am very sad we don't get more Holdo as the war continues. I really love pairings that share a goal or a cause but disagree hard about how to achieve it, and while clearly Poe has come closer to Holdo's position by the end of TLJ than when he began, I bet there's still a lot of daylight between them, and I want to see it, damnit. (I also want to watch them banter for days in a situation a little less pressing than "on the bridge of a ship on which we are all about to die," so if that appeals to you, please, by all means.) I'd love a Holdo lives scenario, and the Resistance finds her either by accident or as a result of a dedicated search; or an AU in which Poe serves under her during his time in the navy; or absolutely anything on Gatalenta with all the tea and poetry and meditation and other equally un-Dameronish things.
Poe Dameron/Leia Organa: Poe wanting to give Leia everything is my everything. There's hero worship and intense loyalty going on here, of course, but I also love it when their relationship is deeper than that; maybe he grew up viewing her as this heroic figure, but now they've worked closely together for a while, and things always get more complex. They're comrades and soldiers, on top of everything else. Some impossible moment of luxury and relaxation in the Resistance's post-Crait struggle would be amazing; a joint mission to some crime lord/gang haven whose cash the Resistance needs going forward; absolutely anything on Yavin 4; emphasis on Leia's Force abilities and how that shapes her relationships with people.
Poe Dameron/Amilyn Holdo/Leia Organa: I'd love to see an AU in which Poe has served under Holdo during his time in the Navy, and becomes involved in her relationship with Leia while they're all hanging around Hosnian Prime; or perhaps Poe and Leia worry over whether Holdo's made it out of the destruction of the fleet around the Hosnian system (presumed dead is a trope I'll always love!), and get a bittersweet reunion before everything goes to shit again. Or Leia and Poe go hunting for Holdo in hopes that she somehow survived her ramming of the Supremacy (whether she's alive or it's futile hunt, both are fine!); hiding out on Gatalenta, or Yavin 4; Force-sensitive Holdo?
Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux/Ben Solo | Kylo Ren: Snarky, ideologically diverse trios with competing motivations will always make me happy! I love this as an AU with First Order Poe, whatever his position may be, with a strong loyalty to one or both of his leaders (or i he an equal third? a Knight of Ren? Snoke's spy?); an AU in which either or both Ben/Kylo and Hux are senators serving the New Republic; Poe as a captive of the First Order working his two captors off one another (and perhaps coming to develop some kind of feelings toward them, Stockholmy or otherwise ... or not); go wild. I love Hux and Kylo best when they're antagonistic toward one another, even/especially when they're sleeping together; the more sniping, pettiness, and undercutting of one another, the better.
Poe Dameron/Armitage Hux/Rey: An AU in which Snoke sends First Order Poe and/or Hux to Jakku to find his newest protege (either instead of or in addition to Kylo)? Empire Never Fell AU with Empress Rey, or would-be-Empress Rey and two of her officers scheming to get here there? Hux defects to the Resistance after Kylo goes all Supreme Leader (I kind of expect Rey would have less life-long prejudice / baggage against Imperial-flavored things than Poe, but maybe not)? One of my favorite headcanons re: where things stand after TLJ is that both the Order and the Resistance are foundering and the Galaxy' criminal elements are filling the power vacuum; Hux and Poe both seem like they'd be pretty atrocious in that environment, and while Rey has managed to take care of herself on Jakku for a long time, but she's hardly a hardened badass denizen of the galactic underworld - do they all run across one another while being Bad At Crime? Are they Bad At Crime together?
Poe Dameron/Luke Skywalker/Ben Solo | Kylo Ren: I've never loved Luke as much as I did in TLJ; he speaks to my love of characters who are tired and kind of embittered but who still want to do the right thing (even if they're kind of hoping "the right thing" is hanging out in their hut forever with no one else bothering them). Poe and Kylo/Ben are either the beginnings of a great antidote to that, or a recipe for coming back onto the galactic stage in the very worst way. Poe convinces Luke to join him in trying to bring Kylo back from the Dark? Ben never goes entirely dark, continues his training with Luke, and when Poe (his childhood friend or the Resistance representative sent to ask them to join the fight) arrives, there's a lot of disagreement about whether they should be in the war? Anything!
Poe Dameron/Rey/Luke Skywalker: I'd love something where Poe accompanies Rey to Ahch-To (or shows up during her training there), particularly something involving the three of them navigating some of the island's creepy Dark side trap things; Luke contending with the earnestness and energy and impatience of these two younger people who want to go do the right thing right now; an AU in which Luke actually comes to fight with the Resistance; anything involving my favorite moon ever, Yavin 4; an Empire Never Fell AU involving hermit Luke, Rey stumbling across hermit Luke, and Imperial Poe, tasked with finding Luke; any manner of Dark!Luke AU, whether Imperial, Supreme Leader Luke, or otherwise.
Poe Dameron/Rey/Ben Solo | Kylo Ren: Relationships between characters with Force sensitivity (or, in this case, quite powerful Force abilities) and those without them are a lot of fun, and there's an added layer of complexity when there are three involved; I'd love to see how that's navigated, and what it means for how they interact. I love the earnestness all three of these characters have, although they can certainly dip into sarcastic sass. An AU in which Kylo seeks out Rey on Jakku without Snoke's knowledge, and Poe, his pilot/confidant, helps facilitate it? Empire Never Fell AU in which they're all tangled up together somewhere in the Imperial leadership? Rey brings Kylo back to the Resistance, willingly or not, and It Is Complicated? Kylo convinces Rey to join him, and Poe goes to try to convince her (or both of them) to return? Anything with these fabulous three, I love them.
Things I like!
- Any rating, from General to Explicit;
- Canon-typical violence is fine by me;
- Unrequested ships as background ships are fine, I have no NOTPs, except please no unrequested incest;
- Angst / dark themes are great;
- Fluff / happy endings are also great! Basically, just please don't worry that what you write will be too dark for me, I promise it will not;
- Dub-con or non-con are fine unless specifically noted otherwise in a given prompt;
- Worldbuilding;
- AU's, particularly canon divergence and role-reversal AU's, and I will always, always love First Order!Poe, AU's in which everyone's a First Order or Imperial character, everyone's a smuggler (or other canon occupation), etc.;
- Political and ideological dimensions to characters/stories;
- Banter and arguing (whether good-natured or knock-down-drag-out rows);
- Characters whose worldviews and personalities perpetually clash even if they love each other to the ends of the earth;
- Characters whose worldviews and personalities perpetually clash and they can't fucking stand each other but they just can't resist each other, either;
- Non-standard relationships - I love when what characters have together for whatever reason doesn’t fit comfortably within the terms we normally use to describe romance or friendship or whatever;
- Hurt/comfort and characters bonding over caring for one another, patching one another up, etc., especially when they might not normally offer to or enjoy doing so (reluctant hurt/comfort full of sniping also very welcome);
- Atmosphere and description are always fabulous;
- Characters that are allowed to keep their flaws and edges are my favorites - if you can articulate why X character is an asshole but we still love them, I will dig that so, so hard. I'm requesting these characters because I like them, and I like them when they're wrong just as much as when they're right. My general attitude toward the various "who's wrong in this scenario?" discussions is: everyone. Everyone's wrong sometimes. If they're never wrong, I probably don't want to read about them.
DNWs:
- Detailed depictions of child abuse (mentions of or references to past abuse are fine);
- A/B/O dynamics;
- Any soulmate/soulmark/soulbonding tropes;
- Unrequested incest;
- Bad things happening to birds / porgs.
